چکیده

The mechanical response of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) in elongation is strongly dependent on temperature, strain and strain rate. Near the glass transition temperature Tg, the stress-strain curve presents a strain softening effect vs strain rate but a strain hardening effect vs strain under conditions of large deformations. The main goal of this work is to propose a viscoelastic model to predict the PET behaviour when subjected to large deformations and to determine the material properties from the experimental data. To represent the non–linear effects, an elastic part depending on the elastic equivalent strain and a non-Newtonian viscous part depending on both viscous equivalent strain rate and cumulated viscous strain are tested. The model parameters can then be accurately obtained trough a comparison with the experimental uniaxial and biaxial tests.

Numerical Simulation of the Viscohyperelastic Behaviour of PET near the Glass Transition Temperature

The presentation deals with the non linear strongly elastic and viscous behaviour of poly ethylene terephthalate near the glass transition temperature and biaxially stretched at high strain rates representative of the injection stretch blow moulding process. A non linear visco-hyperelastic model identified from the experimental results of the equi-biaxial tension test is implemented into a fini...

Basis for viscoelastic modelling of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) near Tg with parameter identification from multi-axial elongation experiments

The mechanical response of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) in elongation is strongly dependent on temperature, strain and strain rate. Near the glass transition temperature Tg, the stress vs strain curves present a strain hardening effect vs strain under conditions of large deformations. At a given strain value, the strain rate has also an increasing influence on the stress value. The main goa...

Investigation into the effect of UV/Ozone Irradiation on the dyeing ‎behaviour of Poly(lactic acid) and Poly(ethylene terephthalate) ‎Substrates

The effect of UV/Ozone irradiation together with the pretreatments using distilled water, hydrogen peroxide, and hydrogen peroxide/sodium silicate solutions on the dyeing depth of the poly(lactic acid), PLA, and poly(ethylene terephthalate), PET, fabrics by the application of disperse dyes were investigated and the results were compared with that of untreated fabrics. The results showed that th...

Interactions of a liquid crystalline polymer with polycarbonate and poly(ethylene terephthalate)

Thermal behaviour of blends of a liquid crystalline copoly(ester amide) (Vectra B950) with two isotropic polymers has been studied by differential scanning calorimetry. One of the isotropic polymers is an amorphous polymer — polycarbonate, the other is a semi-crystalline polymer — poly(ethylene terephthalate). It was found that the glass transition temperature of polycarbonate decreases with in...

Study of the glass transition in the amorphous interlamellar phase of highly crystallized poly(ethylene terephthalate)

Poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) is a semi–crystalline polymer that can be crystallized to different degrees heating from the amorphous state. Even when primary crystallization has been completed, secondary crystallization can take place with further annealing and modify the characteristics of the amorphous interlamellar phase. In this work we study the glass transition of highly crystallized...
